Moriyama at The Photographers' Gallery
The images taken were of Moriyama's work in the photographer's gallery in Soho which amazed me as the gallery was made up of quickly taken images, snap shots, which works well as its a capture of a single moment in time which is captured for a specific reason which I believe I am unaware of due to the work being taken by another person but each of the images have been taken due to it being aesthetically appealing in my opinion but at the same time the photographer chose some surprising images which was a complete surprise to me as it means that the photographer enjoys taking risks. The images were all quite different as the images were all based upon different events which I thought had the result of madness in a way as it felt impossible to find correlating images and to finish it off the magazines that were viewable were all really nice due to having examples of work that I can create.
Sugimoto at The Hayward Gallery
Sugimoto's work was very plain at first glance but the more depth that you view the images with it results in there being a sense of fantasy in the work as there is a lack of life in the work as the figures within the images were taken at museums which is hard to figure out. When taking images of the work I decided to use Sugimoto's method of taking images by having long exposure time for certain images which took a long duration as well as having to hold the camera resulted in light painting in a way whilst it was a complete accident and it shows the dedication that Sugimoto has to create pieces of work with large exposure time as well as the images have resulted in having a sense of perfection and the formatting of these images especially the theatre images have the light usually in the centre of the image which is quite nice in my opinion. The range of images that Sugimoto uses is quite interesting as the subjects are all very different but at the same time have a common link with the images all being quite calm which I really enjoy
The challenge of 60 photos
These photos were inspired by Moriyama as its mainly quick capture shots of things that I found interesting whilst walking around during the trip which means that the work is of things that I genially found interesting and for the images formatting, I have made it so the images look similar to those that would be seen in a Moriyama gallery which was the motivation for this work in my opinion
